Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme aims at bridging this gap by providing the LPG to families living in BPL for no cost. Mr. Modi will be launching it on May 1 at Ballia in Uttar Pradesh and Dahod . The gov. has set a target of 5 Crore LPG connections to be distributed to the BPL house holds across the country under the scheme. Connections will be given in the name of Women beneficiaries. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to provide free of cost LPG cooking gas connections to women from BPL households.

CCEA approved Rs 8000 Cr for the next 3 years starting from FY 2016-17.
PM Ujjwala Yojana will provide 5 Cr LPG connections to BPL Families.
FM had announced about the scheme in his Budget Speech and made a Budgetary provision of Rs 2000 Cr in the current FY.
